Honoring Infancy: Beyond Baby Storytime

From sign language to dancing and everything in between, libraries are finding ways to engage babies with words, music, and sensory activities that not only entertain them, but provide much-needed mental stimulation. In this webinar, members of the Early Childhood Programs and Services Committee with talk about what makes a program appropriate for babies and share some tried and true ideas that are doable at any library.

Kim Alberts is an Early Childhood/Intermediate Librarian at the Akron-Summit County Public Library in Ohio. Getting a B.A. in Theatre has served her well in that she treats every program and storytime like a performance. Kim has put her love of staying on the pulse of librarianship through serving on committees such as the 2017 Newbery Committee and the Reinberger Children’s Library Center Advisory Board and is currently the co-chair of the Early Childhood Programs and Services Committee. Eiyana Favers is a Children’s Engagement Librarian for the Baltimore County Public Library. Eiyana’s work focuses on early literacy, children’s literature, storytelling, and folklore. Eiyana is a member of the Association for Library Service to Children and serves on the Early Childhood Programs and Services Committee, Children and Technology Committee, and the Preschool Services discussion group.
