Children's & Teen Media Evaluation

Children's Notable Lists

Each year ALSC identifies the best of the best in children's books and recordings for youth 14 years of age and younger.

The  Children's Notable lists highlight media of especially commendable quality that demonstrate respect for young people’s intelligence and imagination; exhibit venturesome creativity; and reflect and encourage the interests of children and young adolescents in exemplary ways.

Teen Media Selected Lists

Each year, Selected YA Lists Teams receive nominations, read and evaluate nominated titles, provide featured reviews on The Hub, and select and annotate an annual list of notable titles significant to young adults from those released in the past year or two, depending on format.

The purpose of each annual list is to provide librarians and library workers with a resource for collection development and reader’s advisory purposes.
