Award Manual Revision Working Group

Charge

To 1) Finalize the remaining work of the Awards Manual Revision Task Force from January 2018. Finalize revisions (e.g. resignation protocols, add table of contents, redacting individual names from nominations), add refreshed eligibility examples, and other updates (most recent policy for service, inclusive language [pronouns and EDI-related], eliminate redundant information in multiple places) to the Batchelder, Caldecott, Sibert, Newbery and Geisel manuals on a rolling basis ensuring elements from the Revision Task Force are added, along with the collection of recommendations sent via email. Any procedural activities that involve the office, should be vetted through the ALSC Awards Coordinator to ensure processes are up to date.
2) Consider and work through issues that remain with the original TF’s work. If there are issues that may need Board approval (Board approves policy changes, not procedures) they should be submitted for timely consideration so decisions can be added to the manuals.  And
3) draft initial content (e.g. introductory language explaining the reason why members have to take training, sample questions and answers) for the online training module that were part of the original TF’s recommendations accepted by the Board during the 2018 Midwinter Meeting.
