1. Introduction

This bibliography is the continuing work of the Digital Resources Subcommittee on Standards. Our intent is to provide a source of relevant information as it pertains to the issues facing ALCTS members as they address the collection, cataloging and provision of access to digital resources. (1) At this point in time it should also be noted that the nomenclature in this area is in a constant state of flux, for example OLE, ActiveX, and DCOM are all names for the same type of application, all coming out of Microsoft, etc. Therefore, this document is a starting point for exploring these areas; we will try to keep it current.

Wecome to Version 1.0 of “Standardized Handling of Digital Resources: An Annotated Bibliography.”

Reference Note

1. We will refer to digital resources in this document as that is the name given to the committee when given its charge by ALCTS. We are fully aware that within other parts of ALCTS digital resources are being referred to as electronic resources.

This bibliography was prepared by the Standards Subcommittee of the ALCTS Networked Resources & Metadata Committee: Cecilia M. Preston, Judith R. Ahronheim, Richard Baumgarten, Laurence S. Creider, Mary Engle,
