Uniform Resource Name (URN)

International standard for persistent unique identifier for networked information resources. Being developed by Uniform Resource Names Working Group of Internet Engineering Task Force. It is planned that this group's output will comply with RFC 1737, Functional Requirements for Uniform Resource Names (1994), which defines URNs and gives requirements for them.
