Prices of U.S. and Foreign Published Materials

“Prices of U.S. and Foreign Published Materials” appears yearly in The Library & Book Trade Almanac published by Information Today. It is compiled by the members of the Library Materials Price Index Editorial Board, a subgroup of the ALCTS Publications Committee, and is a rich source of data broken down by U.S. and foreign published materials as well as by the material types (periodicals/serials and books). A total of 14 indexes/tables have been established.
The compilers compose the price data into indices and an article summarizing the current price trends. The raw data is supplied by a number of vendors including EBSCO Information Services, Baker & Taylor, YBP, Ingrams Content Group, as well as several legal serials vendors. The base year for each index is established based on the first year of reliable data available from each data source. The indexes are compiled using the criteria outlined in the ANSI/NISO Z39.20 – 1999 standard: Criteria for Price Indexes for Print Library.
