How to Register

Advance registration for the 2006 ALA Annual Conference is now CLOSED. Individuals can still register online at the onsite rate for full Conference Registrations only.

Additional events may be available for onsite purchase. You may check availability in New Orleans at the onsite registration desk, located in the I Lobby, or by contacting our office at 1-800-545-2433, press option 5.

To register at the onsite rate, you may complete the online form. Additional events that require separate registration are listed on the Special Registration Events page. Tickets for these events may be available at the Registration Desk onsite.

Onsite Registration and Conference Material Pickup

  • New registration will be available onsite at the Morial Convention Center, Level 1, Hall I Lobby. Onsite registration rates are listed above.

  • Attendees who registered in advance and received their badges in the mail can pick up their Conference materials (Program Guide, badge holder, etc), at the Badge Holder Pickup Counter in the Morial Convention Center, Level 1, Hall I Lobby. Satellite Registration will also be available at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside and the Sheraton New Orleans, for attendees who registered in advance to pick up their materials only. No changes can be made or tickets purchased at Satellite Registration.

  • Attendees who registered in advance but did not recieve their badge in the mail should go to the Will Call/Corrections Counter at the Morial Convention Center, Level 1, Hall I Lobby, to receive their badge and Conference Materials. These attendees cannot check in at Satellite Registration, but must go to the Convention Center.

  • To make changes or corrections to your badge, please visit the Will Call/Corrections Counter at the Convention Center, Level 1, Hall I Lobby.

  • To purchase tickets to additional events onsite, please visit the Onsite Registration Counter in the Morial Convention Center, Level 1, Hall I Lobby. Not all events will be available for onsite ticket purchases.

Please note: A Photo ID is required to pick up your conference materials or purchase a badge.

Onsite Registration Hours - Morial Convention Center:
Thursday: 7:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Friday: 7:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Saturday - Monday: 7:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Tuesday: 7:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Satellite Registration Hours - Hilton Riverside and Sheraton:
(For material pickup only - no changes or new registrations)
Thursday - Friday: 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Exhibit Only Registration

Visit the exhibits only, for $25. An Exhibits Only Badge is good for all 4 days of the exhibits (Saturday-Tuesday). An Exhibits Plus Badge includes admission to the exhibits, and the Opening General Session on Saturday. Exhibit badges will be available for purchase onsite at the Onsite Registration Counter in the Morial Convention Center, Level 1, Hall I Lobby. No refunds for Exhibits Only registration.

Confirmations

The ALA Registration office will e-mail or mail a registration confirmation to all registered attendees.

Badges

If registration is received by May 19, 2006, your badge will be mailed to you no later than two weeks before the conference.

Attendees who registered in advance and received their badges in the mail can pick up their Conference materials (Program Guide, badge holder, etc), at the Badge Holder Pickup Counter in the Morial Convention Center, Level 1, Hall I Lobby. Badges will not be sent to countries other than the U.S. and Canada, and will not be sent to attendees who register after May 19. Late registrants and residents of other nations may pick up badges at the Will Call/Corrections Counter in the Morial Convention Center, Level 1, Hall I Lobby.

Refunds and Cancellations

Substitutions are welcome at any time. Otherwise, registration cancellations must be made in writing and postmarked or faxed by May 19, 2006. Cancellations will result in a full refund less a $25 processing fee. Send cancellations to

No phone cancellations will be accepted. No refunds for cancellations postmarked after May 19, 2006. No ”Exhibits Only” or "Exhibits Plus" refunds.

Refunds will be processed after the Annual Conference.

Children’s Policy

Strollers are permitted on the exhibit floor, but only if there is a child in them at all times. Unescorted children are not permitted on the exhibit floor. Children under the age of five must be restrained at all times (stroller, back pack, etc.). Any child over the age of five must have an Exhibits Only badge to be admitted to the exhibit floor. These badges are available at onsite registration for $25. An adult must accompany all children under the age of 16.
