ALA-APA Salaries and Status of Library Workers Committee to Host Two Webinars

The ALA Allied Professional Association’s (ALA-APA) Salaries and Status of Library Workers (SSLW) committee invites you to join them for the following two sessions. The first, Empowering Library Workers: Navigating Unionization in Challenging Environments, will be held May 1st, 1:30 – 3:00pm (Central)/ 2:30 – 4:00pm (Eastern). The second, What Comes after Unionization: Effective Engagement with Library Workers, will be held on May 8th, 12:00pm-1:00pm (Central).

Nation to celebrate library workers’ contributions, April 9

On April 9, 2024, the nation will celebrate National Library Workers Day (NLWD), a time to recognize library staff for their contributions in transforming lives and communities. The ALA - Allied Professionals Association (ALA-APA) invites library advocates, patrons, and staff to show their support of our nation’s library workers by posting words of encouragement and appreciation for their local library stars at http://bit.ly/librarystar.

Julia J. Brody Public Librarian Scholarship

An annual scholarship consisting of $4,000 to a U.S./Canadian citizen or permanent resident who is pursuing an MLS specializing public library services in an ALA-accredited program.
