Fifty years after the first National Library Legislative Day, ALA’s Public Policy and Advocacy (PPA) team invites advocates to show up for America’s libraries on Capitol Hill for a two-day educational advocacy event.

The event will take place February 25-26, 2026, at the Marriott Courtyard Washington DC Downtown/Convention Center.

The event combines advocacy education, networking, and in-person meetings with your legislators and congressional staff on Capitol Hill.

Interest Form & Selection Process

  • Action Required: You must have completed the Interest Form to be considered. (Interest form has now closed)
  • Capacity & Balance: Capacity is limited to 235 people. We require your home and work zip codes on the form to ensure equitable state representation.
  • Selection: Completing the Interest Form does not guarantee a spot. If selected, you will receive a registration link from ALA in December.
  • Next Steps: We will also notify you if your application is declined due to an overabundance of applications from your state. For questions or updates, email nlld@alawash.org.

Fees and Lodging

  • Registration Fee:
    • $175 for ALA members.
    • $245 for non-members (Not a member? Join ALA now).
  • Hotel: We have secured a block of rooms at the Marriott Courtyard Washington DC Downtown/Convention Center for $299/night plus taxes and fees. Please check directly with the hotel for parking policies and fees.

Attendees will be required to complete virtual trainings in advance (approximately 2 hours) and a possible virtual meeting with other members of your state delegation.

A portion of that training will be geared toward Telling Your Story (ALA members can view a pre-recorded webinar here.)
