ALA Divisions:
Prayerful, dedicated, hopeful.
I am currently reading "White Fragility: Why It's So Hard For White People To Talk About Racism" by Robin Diangelo.
Engaging, fun, enlightening.
I value the wide variety of committee and council memberships ACRL has offer. There is literally something for every ACRL member either to observe, to participate, or to lead.
As an academic librarian, I contribute to my campus by working with our faculty to provide information literacy workshops designed to supplement their formal classroom instruction. I work with adjunct and tenured faculty to provide asynchronous and synchronous, in-person and remote, information literacy workshops that are customized to not only meet their instructional needs but also the informational needs of their students.
My life as an academic/research librarian has not been an easy one. I've been denied tenure at one institution. And I received tenure but was denied promotion at another institution. But through it all, I have found that my faith, persistence and patience have been just as effective in my professional life as my various degrees and certifications.
