Responsible, strategic, dedicated.
I am re-reading for the third (maybe fourth) time Stephen King's The Dark Tower series -- I'm currently on Book 5 (Wolves of the Calla.) I'm listening to C.J. Archer's The Glass Library series. I find Marian Hussey to be an exceptional reader. My academic reading right now is revolving around all things AI!
Supportive, professional, inclusive.
Knowing that I have a collective of "my people" is reassuring to me as a professional. None of us have to be working alone, no matter how small our library; we have a community to support us in ACRL. I appreciate the professional development opportunities whether that be through attending or presenting at conferences, networking, or reading ACRL publications.
The words Systems & Archives are in my job title, but I work at a small campus so have the opportunity to engage in ways beyond what that work entails. Teaching is at the core of what librarians at my campus do. We are highly engaged in our First Year Seminar course, and I have been fortunate to serve on the committee that oversees that course. Collaborating with my librarian colleagues to help guide that course content has been very impactful. We also do Research Help via chat and consultation appointments as well as in person in the library and at another location on campus that supports our First Generation and Access, Opportunity, & Success programs. We aim to make connections with students whenever, wherever, and however we can!
My experience as a collegiate librarian has been so rewarding! I love the various aspects of librarianship I've gotten to experience: teaching, collection development, archives, e-resources, systems, circulation, interlibrary loan and even some cataloging many moons ago. Between meaningful engagement with students and having the best colleagues, I just can't be more grateful for my career.
