Curious, creative, patient.
This year, I set a personal challenge to read a selection of banned books. I'm currently finishing 1984 and will soon begin Animal Farm. I first read Animal Farm in high school, but I'm eager to revisit it now with a deeper, more adult perspective.
Supportive, collaborative, dedicated
I deeply value the people I’ve met through this organization. When I first joined UC Irvine Libraries, a colleague encouraged me to become a member, not just for the networking opportunities, but to gain a broader perspective on librarianship and to contribute to a meaningful mission. She was absolutely right, and I’m truly grateful to be part of this community. The librarians I’ve encountered bring remarkable passion, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to the field. Their dedication not only strengthens our profession but also creates a supportive and collaborative environment that continues to inspire my personal and professional growth.
I genuinely love my job and feel fortunate to be involved in various working groups within the library that are committed to enhancing services for UCI’s diverse and dynamic community. These experiences have allowed me to collaborate with colleagues across departments, better understand the unique needs of our users, and contribute to the development of inclusive, user-focused solutions. It is deeply fulfilling to support efforts that ensure our resources, spaces, and programs reflect the richness and diversity of our campus.
Each day brings a new opportunity to connect people with the information they need. Whether it is helping a community member track down the citation details of a cartoon from a 2002 issue of The New Yorker, or assisting an undergraduate student in finding credible resources for a paper on the environmental impact of fast fashion, to being that friendly and welcoming face, each interaction is a unique opportunity to connect people with the information they need. As an information provider I play a significant role in our users’ learning journey or research process. More than that I am part of what makes our library a trusted space where exploration, learning, and personal growth thrive.
Libraries and information literacy are more important than ever in today’s world. Misinformation spreads rapidly and digital content can be overwhelming. Libraries/Librarians serve as trusted spaces/people that provide access to accurate, diverse resources, while information literacy empowers individuals to critically evaluate and use information responsibly. Together, they play a vital role in fostering informed, engaged communities and supporting lifelong learning.
