Describe yourself in three words

Curious, collaborative, adventurous.

What are you reading (or listening to on your mobile device)?

I recently moved from Iowa to New Mexico, so I am interested in learning more about my environments by exploring books from the New Mexico/borderlands literary canon. I just finished Bless Me, Ultima by Rudolph Anaya and found it breathtakingly beautiful and sad. Next up is Sor Juana's Second Dream: A Novel by Alicia Gaspar de Alba.

Describe ACRL in three words:

Forward-looking, inclusive, community.

What do you value about ACRL?

ACRL offers me the opportunity to grow as a librarian and as a member of the academic community. I have worked in libraries at smaller and larger universities and am grateful for the opportunities to network with librarians from all types and sizes of institutions. Librarians have much to learn from each other and ACRL fosters connectivity and learning.

What do you as an academic librarian contribute to your campus?

As a newer NMSU campus community member, I am still exploring my roles as an instruction librarian and scholar. I love connecting with faculty staff, and students but have also found joy in providing outreach to faculty and staff through facilitating a weekly mindfulness program set to kick off at the beginning of the fall semester.

In your own words

I am a mid-career librarian and have worked in public and academic libraries. With each year that passes, my dedication to libraries and the communities they serve grows. As an instruction coordinator, I am especially interested in how the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education can be leveraged to prepare library instructors and faculty across disciplines to respond deftly to pedagogical and other opportunities and challenges raised by AI. I feel confident in the support I receive from the ACRL community of professionals and am excited to see what the future holds.
