Describe ACRL in three words:

Resourceful, network, resilient.

What do you value about ACRL?

I value being a part of the work that supports my librarian colleagues through the committee work that I do as a part of the Research and Scholarly Environment Committee. Our work is important to the field of scholarly communication, and I have learned so much from other committee members along the way.

What do you as an academic librarian contribute to your campus?

My work centers around educating and advising researchers on the ways to demonstrate the impact of their research and scholarship. I am working on introducing my campus to the concepts surrounding responsible research evaluation, as outlined in documents such as the San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA). I also actively work with my colleagues to support faculty and students in the arts and humanities disciplines to showcase their unique creative outputs.

In your own words

I enjoy my work as an academic librarian, and am grateful for the opportunity to use the experience that I have gained to help the future of libraries. My research and scholarship are focused on improving opportunities for early career librarians, and removing barriers to entry for those that are first generation, or new to academia, or are underrepresented, like myself. I also enjoy working with students and faculty as they learn new tools and resources that help them with their own work, and seeing the moment of excitement when they grasp a new concept fully.
