Describe yourself in three words:

Practical, genuine, empathetic.

What are you reading (or listening to on your mobile device)?

I'm currently exploring works that challenge perspectives on power, identity and knowledge creation. The Message by Ta-Nehisi Coates has profoundly influenced my understanding of colonialism and human dignity. This book resonates deeply with my current reading of Linda Tuhiwai Smith's Decolonizing Methodologies. I've also found rich storytelling in The Berry Pickers and Wandering Stars: a Novel, which complement these theoretical works by illuminating similar themes through narrative.

Describe ACRL in three words:

Inspiring, connection, opportunity.

What do you value about ACRL?

ACRL provides vital professional community and guidance in navigating academic librarianship. Through its collaborative networks and comprehensive resources, including the Standards, Guidelines, and Frameworks, ACRL empowers libraries to define and achieve excellence. The organization's strength lies in bringing together diverse perspectives and expertise to create foundational tools that shape institutional success and professional development.

What do you as an academic librarian contribute to your campus?

As Performing Arts Librarian, I transform library collections and services into catalysts for creative discovery and inspiration. I oversee collections supporting the School of Music, Dance, and Theatre, and the Sidney Poitier New American Film School, while fostering collaborative relationships that make our archives more accessible and meaningful. Through innovative instruction and community partnerships, I work to democratize access to performing arts materials, empowering students, scholars, and artists to become active partners in knowledge creation rather than passive consumers of archival resources.

In your own words

Throughout my career, I've found deep fulfillment in building meaningful connections, especially with the remarkable students at Arizona State University. While navigating the complex demands of our profession, I remain committed to fostering supportive mentorship networks and creating spaces where both personal wellbeing and professional growth can flourish. My work is guided by the belief that prioritizing health, connection, and joy strengthens our entire academic community.
