Immersion Program FAQ
When and Where
Immersion ’20 will be held August 2-7, 2020, at Loyola University Chicago. Located in Rogers Park, along the shores of Lake Michigan, Loyola's Lake Shore Campus is conveniently located seven miles north of downtown Chicago and within steps of public transportation.
Program Schedule
Immersion will kick-off with a welcome dinner at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 2, 2020. The program will conclude by 12:00 p.m. on Friday, August 7, 2020.
Immersion ’20 is an intensive, 4.5 day program. The program depends on active participation by all attendees. Previous attendees will tell you that engaged participation and interactions with colleagues are central to making Immersion an enriching and fulfilling experience. You will benefit most if you fully commit your time, including scheduled meals, during the duration of the program. In order to receive a certificate of completion, you must participate fully in the program activities, including pre-assignments. The full program schedule will be available later this spring.
Loyola University Dorms
Immersion Program participants are invited to stay in lodging on the Loyola University Chicago campus. Staying in dorms is optional; participants are welcome to stay off-campus. Immersion participants will be assigned to Regis Hall. The cost is $595 for five nights for a single room; $305 for five nights for a double room (arrive August 2, depart August 7). One-day early arrival or one-day late departure is available on a space available basis. View Regis Hall floor plans online. Regis Hall is air-conditioned and wireless internet access is available campus-wide for Immersion participants. Dorm check-in will be held Sunday, August 2 from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m.

The Loyola dining hall offers vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. Morning and afternoon refreshment breaks are also provided throughout the program.
Getting Oriented
The Loyola campus is compact, and most of your Immersion experience will occur within a five minute-walk from all accommodations. The majority of the Immersion program activities will take place in Damen Student Center, and nearby buildings.
Computer Facilities
We strongly encourage you to bring a laptop or tablet if you have one in order to fully participate in the program activities. Wifi will be available in our Immersion meeting spaces and dorm rooms.
Fitness Center
Immersion participants are welcome to use the facilities at the Halas Sports Center and indoor swimming pool at the daily guest rate. The Loyola campus affords full access to Lake Michigan via neighborhood beaches and lakeside parks with bike paths, athletic fields, and other amenities stretching all the way to downtown.
Nursing Spaces
There is a lactation room on the first floor of the Damen Student Center. Stop by the Damen Student Center front desk and staff can instruct on how to access the space.
What’s Nearby
Rogers Park is one of the most diverse neighborhoods in the country. A wide variety of ethnic restaurants and shops from all corners of the globe are just blocks from campus. The Loyola Campus affords full access to Lake Michigan via neighborhood beaches and lakeside parks with bike paths, athletic fields, and other amenities stretching all the way to downtown.
Getting to Loyola University Chicago
Most major airlines serve Chicago O’Hare or Midway airports.
From O'Hare Airport by the "L":
Follow CTA ground transportation signs to the lower level of O'Hare to board the Blue Line train to downtown. Purchase a CTA transit card ($2.25 per ride) at the kiosks before boarding. Take the Blue Line towards downtown. Get off at Jackson, go down the stairs from the Blue Line platform and walk through the tunnel to the Red Line platform. Look for the signs indicating "Northbound to Howard," and take the train to the Loyola stop. Cross Sheridan Road to enter Loyola's campus. A taxi from O'Hare Airport to Loyola's Lake Shore Campus costs about $30.00 in normal traffic.
From Midway Airport by the "L":
Follow the CTA signs to exit the airport and proceed to the Orange Line Midway station. Purchase a CTA transit card ($2.25 per ride) at the kiosks. Take the Orange Line train labeled "Loop" towards downtown. Get off at Roosevelt and look for the northbound Red Line train labeled Howard. Exit the station at the Loyola stop. Cross Sheridan Road to enter Loyola's campus. A taxi from Midway Airport to Loyola's Lake Shore Campus costs about $35.00 in normal traffic.
From Union Station by CTA Bus and the "L":
Exit Union Station onto Canal Street and Jackson Boulevard. Walk east on W Adams Street and cross the river. Turn Right on S Wells Street and enter the Quincy/Wells Station. Purchase a CTA transit card ($2.25 per ride) at the kiosks before boarding. Board the Orange Line train bound for Midway and get off at the third station at State/Lake. Board the Red Line train on the "Northbound to Howard" platform. Take the train to the Loyola stop, and cross Sheridan Road to enter Loyola's campus.
Driving Directions can be found on the Loyola University Chicago website. Parking is available on campus for a flat rate of $7 per day.
