Charge

Supports and promotes library services to off campus and distance education students; provides a vehicle for the professional development and exchange of ideas among librarians working with off campus and distance education students.

Origin

The Distance Learning Section was established in 1991.  At its November 18, 2019, virtual meeting, the ACRL Board of Directors approved renaming the “Distance Learning Section” to the “Distance and Online Learning Section,” at the request of the DLS Executive Committee.  The name change officially goes into effect on September 1, 2020.

Get Involved

Volunteers will need to complete the volunteer form by February 15 for committee service that begins July 1. More information, including volunteer requirements, can be found on the ACRL volunteer site.
