ALA Digital Reference is an imprint of ALA Publishing dedicated to serving the international cataloging community. The primary product is RDA Toolkit, a subscription website that provides access to RDA: Resource Description and Access, an international standard for bibliographic description. RDA is intended to facilitate and advance the creation and exchange of bibliographic data. ALA Digital Reference collaborates with the RDA Board and RDA Steering Committee to maintain and develop RDA and RDA Toolkit in order to maximize its value to catalogers, managers, metadata specialists, archivists, developers, and publishers.
The RDA Toolkit is the best resource for accessing the RDA standard. It includes access to both the official and original versions of RDA, as well as all available translations of the standard and policy statements from a range of leading library institutions and orgnaizations. RDA Toolkit supports personalizations and document creation and sharing by subscribers. It is published by the RDA Copyright Holders, which is composed of the American Library Association, Canadian Federation of Library Associations, and Facet Publishing, the publishing arm of CILIP: the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals.
