Recent attendees of civic reflection workshops:

"In addition to the obvious application of using the civic reflection method to present meaningful public library programs, I was struck by how very well suited it is for library staff and library trustees. What better way to grow commitment and foster a deeper connection with our work in, and on behalf of, libraries? Specifically for library boards, I envision civic reflection as a tool to empower trustees to be the leaders we need them to be, exhibiting renewed confidence and improved communication skills."
-Cassie Guthrie, Executive Director
Pioneer (NY) Library System
“The civic reflection model creates a way to talk about difficult issues that people don’t want to talk about, but need to talk about. Focusing on the reading creates a non-threatening way to dive in to important issues. This can be valuable for staff development around the concepts of service and diversity, and also for community programming. “
-Nancy Baker, University Librarian
University of Iowa
