Memorial Resolution Honoring Dina Carter
Diane Leslie Carter was born in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Diane took the name of Dina when she converted after moving to Israel.
Whereas, Dina Carter, a 37 year-old U.S. and Israeli citizen, worked as a librarian and archivist at the Jewish National Library; and
Whereas, Dina Carter was visiting the Mt. Scopus campus of Hebrew University on July 31, 2002 to take a Hebrew language exam as a pre-requisite to starting a library science program; and
Whereas, Dina Carter was killed in the bombing at the Mt. Scopus campus of Hebrew University on July 31, 2002; and
Whereas, ALA condemns the violence that resulted in the loss of Dina Carter's life; and
Whereas, ALA abhors the loss of all innocent lives, including Dina Carter's, during the recent conflict in the region; now therefore, be it
Resolved, That the American Library Association honors the tragic loss of Dina Carter, a fellow librarian; and, be it further
Resolved, That the American Library Association conveys its deepest sympathy to the family of Dina Carter.
