Office for Diversity, Literacy and Outreach Services: Events
Throughout the year, ODLOS sponsors and supports several events across the country, as well as special events at ALA Midwinter Meetings and Annual Conferences highlighting our members' work. Below you'll find events that ODLOS supports:
- Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Observance and Sunrise Breakfast Celebration, a celebration of Dr. King's legacy and teachings, and their impact on the library profession; held during ALA Midwinter on Monday morning.
- Diversity and Outreach Fair, a poster session offering library professionals the opportunity to share innovative and successful diversity-in-action ideas.
- Jean Coleman Library Outreach Lecture, named for ODLOS' first director, the Coleman Lecture is held during ALA Annual Conference and features a noted leader who has made significant contributions to the promotion of library outreach services.
- National Bookmobile Day, an annual celebration of America's bookmobiles and the vital services they provide; held on Wednesday of National Library Week
