“Above all, during this coming year my goal is to contribute to ALA’s existing work in the areas of advocacy, diversity, international relations and wellness which contribute to overall professional development.”
To increase membership, engagement, and retain our more than 1,700 international members, we have coordinated a number of activities. We will enhance our current “I am ALA” initiative with highlighting international members each month. A series of webinars featuring themes such as the Sustainable Development Goals will be presented during the year. The first webinar is scheduled for July 19, 2018, 12:00 pm EST. For more information, please visit http://www.ala.org/rt/irrt/initiatives.
A Library Map of the World, developed by IFLA, will be displayed at both Midwinter and Annual Conferences along with resources and participation of librarians from different countries to encourage international collaboration.
“This is a good time to increase awareness about international topics impacting our world and I am happy to collaborate with a dedicated team of librarians to make this happen. I am also counting with the best time anyone could have, ALA’s 59,000 members!” Loida Garcia-Febo
