ALA Publications Committee
Charge
The ALA Publications Committee brings together a diverse group of members to share their expertise and experience in identifying the content most needed and desired by the field, the most appropriate channels for disseminating that content, and continuous improvement in related business practices. The committee includes representatives from imprint-specific committees, advisory boards in divisions or other ALA units across ALA, and other units at ALA with publishing activities.

Composition
The ALA Publishing Committee consists of eleven (11) members for two-year staggered terms, including two (2) Co-Chairs.
One Chair represents ALA publishing efforts and the other represents the advisory role to American Libraries.

Per CD #27, ALA Council approved the merger of the American Libraries Advisory Committee and the Publishing Committee as outlined in Appendix 5 (Effective: June 30, 2026).
Subcommitees and Task Forces
The ALA Publishing Committee consists of ten members and two associatess who are appointed by the ALA Appointing Officer, serving two year staggered terms, led by a chairperson who is appointed annually.
