The American Library Association is drafting its next strategic plan, which will cover the period from 2010 to 2015. An important part of this planning process is the "environmental scan," which consists of gathering and discussing information on the environment within which the association is currently operating and in which it will operate over the next five years. To better understand the environment and trends that will shape our future, ALA Chapters and Affiliates were asked to provide comments. These comments are posted on
ALA 2015 Environmental Scan in ALA Connect, where instructions for posting resources are also found. Feedback from ALA planning forums was provided on the following questions:
- What are the most important things that ALA can do to help you as a member?
- What are the most important things ALA can do for libraries?
- What are the most important things ALA can do for the public?
- What are the most pressing/important issues facing libraries and the profession?
