National Day of Racial Healing Stipends
The ALA National Day of Racial Healing Stipends supports a special event to create new or enhance programming and activities, increasing engagement with students, community members, and library patrons. The goal is to provide direct assistance funding to libraries for special short-term projects or events that will create new or enhance existing activities in order to engage students, community members, and patrons with and in the library and to promote the National Day of Racial Healing.
Sponsored by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation
Monetary Amount: $2,000
Deadline: December 22, 2025
Special events can be planned for any time during January or February 2026.
Eligibility:
- The applicant must be a publicly funded library and ALA member. Each library, regardless of the variety of constituents it may serve, is limited to the submission of one application.
- Libraries that have 85% or more of their student population qualified for Free Reduced Lunch (FRL) program should include this information in their application to receive additional consideration.
- The selection will take overall stipend distribution diversity into account, ensuring a broad distribution based on community size and geographical location.
- Stipends can be used to fund author visits, special events, contests, Book Clubs, Summer Reading programs, displays, etc. that engage constituents with and in the library around the National Day of Racial Healing.
- The recipient must agree to deliver a final report within two weeks of the event. If photographs or images are part of the report, the library must include digital copies (300 dpi images or higher) of all release-signed photographs.
- These reports may be posted, with permission of the recipient, to any ALA website/webpage, ALA publication and WKKF’s DayofRacialHealing.org.
