Conference Travel Scholarships Jury

Charge: To work with YALSA’s Web Services Manager to widely promote the scholarship and to select annually three YALSA members who will receive funds to travel to the ALA Annual Conference.  Two selectees will be librarians or library workers (one whose focus is school libraries and the other whose focus is public libraries) who work with or for young adults to receive the Baker & Taylor/YALSA Conference Scholarship, and to annually select one graduate student in the field of library and information science to receive the Dorothy Broderick Conference Scholarship. Promotion of the scholarships takes place from July through June.  Judging the applications takes place Dec. and Jan. Term: July 1 through the following June. Jury size: 5 virtual members, including the chair and at least one member from the previous year.

Qualifications:

  • Current membership in YALSA
  • In order to accomplish work in a virtual environment taskforce members must be competent users of web 2.0 tools, including but not limited to wikis, e-chats and ALA Connect.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Marketing experience

Term: From end of Annual Conference through the following Annual.
