Conference Travel Scholarships Jury

Charge:  To vet applications in order to select three YALSA members who will receive funds to travel to the ALA Annual Conference.  Two selectees will be library workers (one whose focus is school libraries and the other whose focus is public libraries) who work with or for young adults to receive the Baker & Taylor Conference Scholarship, and one will be a graduate student in the field of library and information science to receive the Dorothy Broderick Conference Scholarship.  Jury size: 5 - 7 virtual members, one member from the previous year

 

Qualifications:

  • Current personal membership in YALSA
  • Have the necessary time to commit to devote to the work of the group
  • Are skilled in conducting work virtually through tools such as ALA Connect, video chats, Google Docs and more
  • Enjoy working in a team environment
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Have enthusiasm for supporting and advancing YALSA's commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion
  • Want to give back to the organization and help YALSA achieve its goals
  • Personal integrity and a commitment to upholding YALSA's Ethical Behavior Policy
  • Marketing experience
