YALSA, through funding from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation, will distribute 10 $1,000 Teen Read Week grants this year! The grants recognize the outstanding efforts of YALSA members and encourages librarians to plan engaging activities in honor of Teen Read Week.

Applicants must:

  • be YALSA members
  • live within 20 miles of a Dollar General store (check your state at http://tinyurl.com/DGstate)
  • plan to host an event encouraging reading for teens at a library with the funds

Individual library branches within a larger system are welcome to apply. Applications are due July 1, 2011. Recipients will be announced the week of August 1, 2011.

To apply, download the application (Word doc) and return to yalsa@ala.org by July 1. Questions can be sent to Letitia Smith, membership coordinator, at lsmith@ala.org.
