Connecting Teens to Mental Health Support and Services

For library staff, it can be a challenge to know how best to serve teens who need mental health support and resources. In this webinar, participants will have the chance to learn what resources are available and how best to connect those resources to teens who need them.  The session will be facilitated by Ashley Fontaine, the Executive Director of NAMI (National Association on Mental Illness) in Seattle.

Learning Outcomes

  • What information and resources are available to help teens and young adults find mental health information.
  • Ways to connect with community agencies who can help teens seeking mental health supports, like your local NAMI affiliate.
  • How to support and create safe spaces for teens who have mental health questions.

Plug-Ins

Adobe Connect runs off a Flash platform.  Meeting participants need to set their computer settings to allow plug-ins.

Audio

Audio for Connect meetings is provided using VOIP. Meeting participants need to have a computer headset with microphone.  Microphones and speakers that are built into computers are usable, but if they are used then other webinar participants in Connect will actually be able to hear people speaking through the computer's speakers as well as through the microphone of the person speaking, which creates an echo or makes the sound quality fuzzy.
