About This Course

Sarah Ann LongThis course covers understanding the importance of an annual evaluation of the library director, planning to evaluate, methods of evaluation, tools and other approaches, additional considerations, and avoiding common problems. After taking this course you will feel empowered to take control of the director evaluation process and tailor it to your library situation. This course is led by Sarah Ann Long, Professor of Practice and Coordinator of Continuing and Professional Education at Dominican University’s Graduate School of Library and Information Science in River Forest, IL.

Long was the Executive Director of the North Suburban Library System (NSLS) in Wheeling, IL. for over 20 years.  Long was president of the American Library Association (ALA) in 1999-2000 and is a past president of the Public Library Association. In her more than forty years of library leadership, she has worked with libraries and library organizations in Illinois, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Georgia. Long also worked as an academic librarian in England.
