How to Join United for Libraries

Current ALA Members
To add the United for Libraries division to your current ALA membership, please visit www.ala.org/membership/renew or call (800) 545-2433, ext. 5. United for Libraries membership is $50 per year (pro-rated to match your current ALA membership expiration). A special rate of $15 is available for those with an ALA student membership. Members choose one section for free, additional sections are $15 each.

New ALA Members
If you are not yet a member of ALA, you can join as a Personal Member, Trustee, Friend, or Foundation. Rates for new personal members begin at $60 for the first year. Trustees, Friends, and Foundations pay just $59 each year. United for Libraries membership is $50 per year for most member types. A special rate of $15 is available for those with an ALA student membership. Members choose one section for free; additional sections are $15 each. Those wishing to join as a Trustee, Friend, or Foundation member of ALA may call (800) 545-2433, ext. 5; mail the printable form with payment; or visit www.ala.org/membership.

ALA and United for Libraries offer a unique opportunity for first time members to join their state Trustee association, United for Libraries, and ALA, a discount of up to 30 percent. Currently, Arkansas, California, Massachusetts, New York, and South Carolina participate in the program.

Friends Group, Foundation, and Trustee Board Group Members
A Friends Group, Foundation or Board of Trustees can directly join United for Libraries as a group to receive publications and online members-only resources. This is not a voting membership for ALA or United for Libraries, and does not include any of the benefits afforded to ALA personal members. To join as a group member, please call (800) 545-2433, ext. 5 or mail the printable form. Group members can also join or renew online with a credit card.
