Public Service Award

From 1989 through 2008, Friends of Libraries U.S.A. (FOLUSA) presented the Public Service Award annually to a legislator who has been especially supportive of libraries. In 2009, the award was continued when FOLUSA merged with the Association for Library Trustees and Advocates. The first award was presented in 1989 to Congressman Major Owens (D-NY), the only librarian serving in Congress.
