Friends of the J.V. Fletcher Library, Inc. (Westford, Mass.)
The Friends submitted two outstanding pieces in this category. First, a membership mailing that was mailed out in bulk to households in the service area. The 2-color membership form listed a variety of ways in which patrons benefit from the Friends and encouraged citizens to sign up with the easy-to-use form and enclosed return envelope (with a note in the upper right corner that reads “Our thanks for your stamp here.”). Second, an annual appeal also mailed in bulk. This letter and form combination (a portion of which is pictured at right) explained the need for an annual appeal and put into practical terms what a donation means to the library ($25 can purchase a can of paint, $50 can install a square yard of carpet, etc.). A return envelope was also included.
