Have you joined your Friends of the Library? Library lovers everywhere
are invited and encouraged to join their local Friends of the Library group. These dedicated volunteers advocate for libraries, raise much needed funds, sponsor programs and special events, and host popular used book sales. If you haven't joined your Friends, contact your local library and find out how to join today. If your library does not have a Friends group, learn more about starting one in your community.
The American Library Association (ALA) offers two websites that celebrate libraries and their rich resources, help you get involved and speak out on behalf of libraries, and keep you informed about issues and trends affecting libraries:
Visit www.ilovelibraries.org today, ALA's website for the public designed to keep America informed about what's happening in today's libraries, which are found in public, school, academic, corporate and institutional settings. Ilovelibraries.org is produced by the ALA Office for Library Advocacy, and it's brought to you by ALA staff from all corners of the association, who come together to volunteer their time and brilliance. Get informed, get involved, and take action to help libraries everywhere.
Atyourlibrary.org is the public Web site for the American Library Association’s public awareness campaign — The Campaign for America’s Libraries, which promotes the value of libraries and librarians. The goal of www.atyourlibrary.org is to provide information and recommended resources that everyone can take advantage of at their local library.
