Annual Conference Program Committee
To develop, coordinate and implement programs sponsored by United for Libraries at Annual Conferences that specifically address, both collectively and separately, the issues and concerns of library Trustees, Friends of Libraries and Library Foundations; to receive conference program requests and review them for adherence to established procedures, elimination of duplications, and budgets. To submit program requests along with the committee’s recommendations to the United for Libraries Board for approval.
- Contact Committee Chairs to receive program proposals.
- Develop programs for important areas not covered by Committees.
- Fill out or ensure that program forms are filled out for all programs and deliver to staff.
- Follow up with all program contacts in the spring to be sure that programs are progressing.

The Annual Conference Program Committee meets in person during the ALA Annual Conference the year prior to the conference for which programs are planned. Conference calls may be requested by the committee chair. The committee will also meet during the ALA Midwinter meeting to finalize programs. The committee does not meet during the conference for which programs were planned.

Email: The email address to use for contacting committee members is email@example.com. Only committee members and staff liaisons can post messages to the electronic discussion group.
Conference Calls: At the request of the committee chair, one or more conference calls can be scheduled with the assistance of United for Libraries staff.
ALA Connect: Each committee has a virtual "space" in ALA Connect where committee members can post messages and share documents among committee members. This option should only be utilized if all committee members agree to using ALA Connect as their primary means of communication.
Program proposals will be due to United for Libraries staff in October. This includes all programs, discussion groups, and ticketed events, excluding author programs, which are handled by United for Libraries staff. Program proposals must include title, first and second choice of date and time, requested AV, preferred room set, speaker names (if known), and a description of 75 words or less.
Updates to descriptions and speakers will be due in early February.
Final revisions will be due in April.
The chair will complete a report for each meeting and submit to the staff liaison, to include a sign-in sheet.
