Major Accomplishments:

Jeffrey Smith currently serves as both the president of the Foundation for Baltimore County Public Library (BCPL), and as a member of BCPL's Board of Trustees.  He presently serves United for Libraries as division liaison to ASCLA and as a member of the Newsletter & Web Advisory Committee.  In addition, he serves on ALA's Legislation Assembly.

Since 2006, Jeffrey Smith has worked to be an effective advocate for BCPL and for libraries throughout Maryland.  During his volunteer tenure, Jeff successfully secured two separate $250,000 state appropriations in support of BCPL's nationally-recognized "Storyville" children's libraries.  Jeff has also helped the BCPL Foundation to launch an ambitious endowment funding drive.

In his professional life, Jeff serves as the director of public affairs for one of Maryland's largest non-profit organizations.  During his career, he has conducted successful legislative advocacy efforts at the federal, state, and local levels.  Jeff strives to bring these collective experiences to bear in developing robust advocacy campaigns in support of library issues and funding.
