My first major accomplishment I would list would be as a wife and mother of three children - a lifetime achievement.
I have played an active role in shaping children's lives through my participation in Boy Scouts, Camp Fire, church activities, library programs and community involvement.
I was instrumental in funding a computer learning facility at the Colorado School of Mines in recognition of my family's achievements. My father, husband and daughter are all CSM alums.
In the past seven years I have been a patient advocate on a national and local level in education and support for those with hereditary breast and ovarian cancer. I have helped many women in a friendly, non-threatening atmosphere face their fears and make life saving decisions. I have been instrumental in fund raising for the international organization which addresses the needs of this community.
Statement of Professional Concerns/Aspirations if Elected:
I support libraries through monetary donations and advocating library support by engaging with members of the community to help raise funds and awareness for library services. I have also been an advocate with politicians on the local, state and national level to deliver the message “Libraries DO matter,” an effective voice for communities who face downsizing of library services.
I feel my experience and diligence in advocating on behalf of libraries and their services qualify me to be a board member for United for Libraries.
