U.S. National Library?

Q. Does the United States have a National Library?

A. No, the United States does not have a National Library the way that many other countries do.  There are, however, five libraries that are recognized as being national in scope:

  1. Library of Congress (de facto, but has not been authorized as an official National Library)
  2. National Agricultural Library
  3. National Library of Education
  4. National Library of Medicine
  5. National Transportation Library

This article is great. The US national libraries provided above are accurate and helpful. But another link worth sharing here would be the David Lichtenstein Bloomberg interview, which primarily aired on March 3rd 2015. It's worth checking out.
