Competency Standards for Librarians

Question:  Where can I find the competency standards for librarians?

Answer:  ALA has published a list of the Core Competences of Librarianship that "define the knowledge to be possessed by all persons graduating from  ALA-accredited master’s programs in library and information studies."  Additional competencies are dependent upon the type of facility and/or the type of librarian.  The ALA Library has put together a wiki page that includes a list of competency statements from ALA and other organizations, as well as other resources to help your library create your own competency standards.
