New Orleans, LA CISTI Update
NEW DEVELOPMENTS IN CISTI DOCUMENT DELIVERY
In response to your suggestions, CISTI has expanded and improved its ordering and delivery systems to provide even better service to you and your patrons.
Improved ordering options include the extension of interactive ordering to 23 hours/day. This makes our ordering system accessible during the day throughout all of the time zones. Also new this year, users of the ISO ILL Protocol will be able to use this standard to submit ILL requests to CISTI. For more information, please contact Wanda Nowosielski at Wanda.Nowosielski@nrc.ca or by phone at 613-993-3940. CISTI has recently signed an agreement with DIALOG to set up gateway ordering from DIALOG @ Site ( http://products.dialog.com/products/atsite/). In addition, CISTI is conducting a feasibility study on extension of Urgent Service hours.
You will also see more and better delivery options from CISTI. Fewer documents are now being delivered by courier, as a result of new processes implemented recently to ensure that more documents are delivered electronically when that is the client's preferred choice. CISTI also plans to extend a new document delivery option, Ariel e-mail, to its intermediary clients during the coming year. More details on this will be forthcoming.
For information on how to order or receive documents from CISTI, visit our web site at http://www.nrc.ca/cisti/docdel/docdel_e.shtml or contact us at 1-800-668-1222 (Canada & US) or (613) 993-9251
All customised implementations of CISTI Source are now on the new interface and the old system has been retired. The remaining clients were brought online on September 25, 2001.
Enhancements to CISTI Source planned for release this year are:
1. "Shopping Cart" ordering
2. An enhanced list orders function for institutions with many accounts
3. An enhanced "local holdings" feature
As ever, CISTI Source is fully integrated with CISTI's Document Delivery services and can be individually customised as a gateway to periodical literature.
Several lists have been added to the About CISTI Source section to help decision-makers to evaluate the CISTI Source content. They include:
- Active titles
- Inactive titles
- Titles with links to full text
- Titles with abstracts
- Titles with links to publisher sites
- CISTI Source titles held in the CISTI Catalogue
- Titles by subject (pie charts)
In March of this year, we will release new pricing and subscription packages for the service.
