ANNUAL REPORT
TO THE
RSS EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
FROM THE
RSS ORGANIZATION AND PLANNING COMMITTEE
28 JUNE 2005

The RSS Organization and Planning Committee accomplished almost all of its objectives for 2004/5:

(1) Evaluate the continuation of MOUSS committees and discussion groups and the creation of new committees and discussion groups for RSS
(2) Update MOUSS Bylaws to reflect change to RSS
(3) Update MOUSS Handbook for RSS
(4) Propose RSS goals for adoption by RSS Executive Committee

A new roster of committees and discussion groups was submitted for the ALA Handbook and the RSS website. The joint RSS/MARS Virtual Reference Committee was created. A revision to the charge for the Catalog Use Committee was accepted and submitted to the RSS Executive Committee for approval. A few additional changes under consideration were postponed to give the new RSS committees and discussion groups some time to get established. OPC members joined RSS Executive Committee members in volunteering to serve as mentors for new committees and discussion groups to facilitate their initial organization.

Changes to the old MOUSS text of the RSS Bylaws were made and posted to the RSS website. Revisions to the old MOUSS Handbook also were completed and submitted for posting on the website as the new RSS Handbook (posted at http://www.ala.org/ala/rusa/ rusaourassoc/rusasections/rss/rssprotools/handbooka/rsshandbook.htm).

The Committee drafted and submitted new goals and objectives for 2005-2007 to be considered for adoption by the RSS Executive Committee.
