The Evaluation of Reference and User Services Committee (ERUS) met on Sunday, June 26, in the Skywalk 265 of the Hyatt Regency Chicago from 10AM-12Noon.
Members present were: Barb Mann (chair, University of Southern Maine), Jill Moriearty (vice-chair, University of Utah), Chip Stewart (City College of New York), Judy Solberg (George Washington University), Deborah Costen (UCLA), Susan Ware ( Penn State).
Many guests attended this meeting including incoming committee members Caroline Bordinaro (CSU Dominguez), Greg Crawford ( Penn State) and Evelyn Greenlaw (University of Southern Maine).
After welcome and announcements, Susan provided a report on the RSS Executive Committee meeting (Barb was unable to attend). The listserv problem remains unresolved.
Based on the feedback from the meeting on 06/25, Susan had revised the Guidelines for Defining and Assessing Reference Services and presented the revised version to the Committee. She removed the list of transaction measures under section 3.0 and added them to the Appendix.
The discussion then focused on future topic brainstorming. Possible topics included:
• How to bring user perspective
• Reference collection development and management
• Tools for evaluation and how to include users in the process
• Print v. online: tools for evaluating, user perspective, assessment
The Committee will further discuss future topics at midwinter meeting and come to decisions then.
The meeting was adjourned at 11AM.
Barb Mann, Chair.
