Annual 2002 Meeting Minutes
Atlanta, Georgia June 15, 2002
Present: Linda Fenster, Lace Keaton, Curly Jones, Bruce Whitham, Susan Curtis
Bruce Whitham explained that the committee was moving from a co-chair arrangement to one which would insure continuity.
Susan Curtis is the out-going chair, he is the incoming chair. Linda Fenster agreed to become the chair-elect. Susan Curtis announced that the committee's survey which was undertaken by Barb Mann on the use of cooperative reference arrangements within consortiums will be published in the summer issue of RUSQ. Bruce talked about other cooperative effor
ts that have an impact on Reference. He is impressed with EpixTech's URSA product which the Pennsylvania Academic Library Consortium (PALCI) is implementing for interlibrary loan of resources within the state. Committee members discussed similar efforts in their states and the mechanism to deliver the books. Some states have a single van that travels around, while other states use United Parcel Service.
The committee reviewed the program proposal which Susan Curtis had prepared for the Toronto meeting. They discussed what they wanted the panelists to touch upon. The points include: 1) how they defined their constituency; 2) how they are marketing the service, including how they are marketing to other libraries; 3) where the revenue comes from for marketing; 4) how they assess the impact of their marketing campaign; and, 5) future directions. Bruce will serve as moderator for the panel.
Respectfully submitted, Susan Curtis
