Members: Laura Dale Bischof, Gary Church, Susan Curtis, Lace Keaton, Wei Ma, and Barb Mann.

The minutes of January 17, 2000, were approved.

Wei reported that she would be getting further guidelines about the webpage at the MOUSS Executive Meeting.

The rest of the meeting was devoted to discussion of the Cooperative Reference Survey. Barb presented a web version for consideration. The style was approved. However, some editing of the introductory text and questions were then made.

In the introductory text is was suggested that the acronyms be included.

Q14 has been reworded to: How do you handle charges incurred for faxes, photocopies, or phone calls?

Another choice, Does not apply, has been added to Q15, How do you offer remote reference assistance to your constituency?

Another choice, Varies with institution, has been added to Q16, Are reference questions received from remote users answered more fully?

Another choice, Do not know, has been added to Q17, Is there a different turn-around time for answering remote user questions?

Q23 has been reworded to: What kind of mechanism is in place for patrons to evaluate the service?

Another choice, None, has been added to Q23, What kind of mechanism is in place for patrons to evaluate the service? The hyphen is also being deleted from regulary scheduled surveys, choice #2.

Another choice, None, has been added to Q24, What kind of evaluation mechanism is in place for participating librarians/staff? The hyphen is also being deleted from regularly scheduled surveys, choice #2, and regularly scheduled meetings, choice #3.

Another choice, None, has been added to Q25, What kind of problem resolution procedures are in place? A hyphen is also being added to problem-reporting forms, choice #2.

Another choice, Does not apply, has been added to Q26, If statistics on referrals are collected, which categories of information are recorded?

The list Barb prepared of possible recipients derived from the International Coalition of Library Consortia participants was accepted as the target of the survey. If response rate is low, follow-up calls/correspondence will be pursued.

The survey will be distributed ca. September 15, with a one month time for return requested.

The results will come into the Electronic Data Center's server in Woodruff Library of Emory University. Barb and the Electronic Data Coordinator will compile the results in a statistical package for analysis. The results will be reported to the committee. Further discussion and next steps will be on the agenda for Midwinter 2001.
