Communications Committee

Purpose

The committee manages the section’s media outlets (including the web site, listserv, social media, and contributions to RUSA Update), promotes the Section’s activities and initiatives, and advises on other communication-related issues.

In order to ensure that all History Section events are adequately promoted, the Communications Committee has created a form for committee chairs fill out when planning an event. 

The Communications Committee has also created a toolkit that provides additional information about promoting events.

Objectives

Increase communication and engagement over the History Section listserv, Facebook page, and Twitter

  • Post to listservFacebook, and Twitter at least once a week
  • The History Section currently has about 340 listserv subscribers, 118 "likes" on Facebook and 159 Twitter followers; we would like to increase the number of subscribers/followers by at least 20%
  • Explore feasibility of starting a Communication Section Blog
