Study, promote, and support the role of business reference in academic libraries.
 

Business Reference in Public Libraries
Study, promote, and support the role of business reference in public libraries.
 

Business Reference Services Discussion Group
Sponsor discussions at the Midwinter and Annual Meetings.
 

Business Reference Sources
Study and identify the need for and improvement in business reference sources both print and electronic and to promote communication between business reference librarians and the providers of business information.
 

Conference Program Planning
Plan and produce the Section's annual conference program.
 

Education
Study and review the educational needs of business reference librarians and other librarians involved in providing business reference services; explore and encourage the development of curriculum and continuing education programs.
 

Emerald Research Award
Administer an annual award, donated by Emerald Group Publishing, limited to an ALA member seeking support in conducting research in business librarianship.
 

Executive
Provide leadership, coordination and direction for BRASS, and to act for and by the authority of BRASS during the period between meetings.
 

Membership
Serve as the public relations arm of BRASS, with the aim of promoting increased membership and retaining existing members in the section.

 

Mergent Excellence in Business Librarianship Award
Administer an annual award recognizing an individual who has distinguished him or her self in the field of business librarianship.
 

Morningstar Public Librarian Support Award
Administer an annual award, donated by Morningstar, that will support the attendance at the ALA Annual conference of public librarians who are members of BRASS/RUSA, and to recruit public librarians as active members of BRASS.

 

New Business Librarians Discussion Group
Provide a forum for informal dialogue and idea exchange among those who have become a business librarian, or those who provide reference services to business clientele in an academic, public, or special library. Encourage informal contacts among business librarians, and foster a group identity within ALA.
 

Nominating
Arrange for nomination of candidates for offices of the Section and for other members of the BRASS Executive Committee.
 

Publications and Communications
Provide advice and recommendations regarding BRASS publications to the Executive Committee; coordinate BRASS publication efforts and work with the RUSA Publications and Communications Committee through the BRASS Section Representative.

Global Financial Data Academic Business Librarianship Travel Award
Administer an annual award, supported by RUSA, that enables an individual new to the field of academic business librarianship in to attend the ALA Annual Conference.

An ad-hoc committee, not currently active.
 

SimplyMap Student Travel Award
Administer an annual award that enables a student enrolled in an ALA accredited master's degree program to attend the ALA Conference.
 

Vendor Relations
Encourage and develop relationships between BRASS and the private sector for the support of BRASS activities, education and services.
