2. Timetable For BRASS Committee Chairs

In addition to this timetable, consult Chapter 1: Committees of the RUSA Guide to Policies and Procedures and, for chairs of program planning committees, Chapter 5: Meetings and Programs.

Please use this timetable as a guideline, adhering to it whenever possible. If you have any questions, please contact the BRASS Chair.

June/July (Annual Conference activities)

  • Incoming chairs
    1. Attend BRASS Committee Chair Orientation & Transition Meeting on Saturday morning.
    2. Attend, if at all possible, the BRASS Executive Committee meeting s held on Tuesday morning prior to your term as chair.
  • Continuing/outgoing chairs
    1. Chair committee meeting(s).
    2. Bring action items to Brass Executive Committee meeting on Tuesday morning.
    3. Submit copy for Jul/Sep RUSA Update to BRASS Notes editor.
    4. Submit RUSA Meeting Highlights form and send minutes to BRASS-L within 2 weeks of the end of the conference.

August

  • Continuing chairs
    1. Prepare and mail Annual conference committee meeting minutes.
  • Outgoing chairs
    1. Prepare and mail Annual conference committee meeting minutes.
    2. Archive older committee materials to the ALA Communities site (communities.ala.org).

September

  1. Submit request for Midwinter meeting time slots to BRASS Scheduling Coordinator.
  2. Submit copy for Oct/Dec RUSA Update issue to BRASS Notes editor.

October

  1. Submit request for Annual conference time slots to BRASS Scheduling Coordinator.
  2. Confirm Midwinter meeting times with committee members and BRASS Scheduling Coordinator, and arrange to reschedule if necessary.

November

  1. Confirm Annual conference meeting times with committee members and BRASS Scheduling Coordinator. Arrange to reschedule if necessary.

December

  1. Prepare and mail Midwinter agenda and copy of committee minutes from Annual.
  2. Notify committee members of times of meetings and room assignments.

January/February (Midwinter Meeting activities)

  1. Chair committee meeting(s).
  2. Announce committee meeting time for Annual Conference.
  3. Bring action items to BRASS Executive Committee meeting on Tuesday.
  4. Send Midwinter committee meeting minutes to BRASS-L within one month of the meeting.
  5. Submit copy for Jan/Mar RUSA Update issue to BRASS Notes editor.
  6. Submit RUSA Meeting Highlights form and send minutes to BRASS-L within 2 weeks of the end of the conference.

February

  1. Prepare and mail Midwinter conference committee meeting minutes and any additional information to committee members.
  2. Submit BRASS Committee Appointment Recommendations form to BRASS Vice-chair.

March

  1. Submit copy for Apr/Jun RUSA Update to BRASS Notes editor.

May

  1. Prepare and mail Annual meeting agenda and a copy of Midwinter meeting committee minutes.
  2. Notify committee members of times of meetings and room assignments.
