2) Please briefly describe the research teams involved in the industry analyses, and those involved in product development. Also describe the relationship between these different contributors to the product's development and how they receive input or feedback from customers.
3) Please outline the basic approach used for the industry analyses and, in general, the range of credible resources used or specialist analysis tools employed.

  • Mergent Online New Interface to replace FIS Online
  • Content upgrades:Private Companies, JCF Earnings Estimates, Industry Reports from Asia Pacific/North America/Europe, EDGAR Batch Printing/Word Searching,Global Annual Reports/ Archived Company File, Concurrent Network Usage with IP Access.
  • Events Data: Corporate Actions, Mergers and Acquisitions, Dividend, Fixed Income Database, UIT, Corporate Stock Price, News
  • Mergent Active:Access Standardized/As Reported financials from Excel, Word or Powerpoint. Screen, build custom templates on global equities.

2) Please briefly describe the research teams involved in the industry analyses, and those involved in product development. Also describe the relationship between these different contributors to the product's development and how they receive input or feedback from customers.
  • Research Teams: Mergent has extensive research teams located here in North America: Charlotte, New York, United Kingdom, Australia and Japan.
  • Global Fundamental Data is collected here in North America & other Mergent research/development centers use this data to develop and update products-- Mergent Online.
  • Input and Feedback are provided as follows: Customer Response Surveys, Industry Conferences:SLA, ALA, and local chapter meetings, customers contact local representatives, e-mail Mergent customerservice@mergent.com

3) Please outline the basic approach used for the industry analyses and, in general, the range of credible resources used or specialist analysis tools employed.
  • Mergent uses extensive research resources for collecting and developing data for over 103 years. John Moody’s began collecting data important to investors: Moody’s Manual of Industrial Companies and Transportation, this process has grown into what Mergent is today.
  • Data collection and updating have been updated with the internet to provide real time analysis and updating. Many products are updated 5 times daily

4) Please describe your interactions, if any, with industry leaders, industry organizations or private research organizations.
  • Mergent and Moody’s in the past have always supported, BRASS, RUSA, SLA, ALA, AALL, ACRL and other information industry groups for customer feedback & new product development.
  • Example: The new Mergent Online to replace Moody’s Company Data and FIS Online was development from customer feedback.
  • Example: Mergent Active Standardization is developed with the XBRL(extensible business reporting language) Standards board, which Mergent is a member of along with Price Waterhouse, KPMG, Deloitte & Touche.
  • December 2003 Mergent Launched its Dividend Achievers Index on the New York Stock Exchange

  • Mergent’s selection of XBRL data tagging and associated country taxnonomies provides the end user with uniques, transparent, comoprhensive, flexible an daccurate standardised financial database. Approve by IASB members.
  • High Availability For Mergent Online Products: Always up, New Colocation Sites in New York and the U.K.
  • Mergent Active: XBRL Transparency
    • Active Audit Allows user to validate data back to its original source. User can then move to SEC Filings & Actual Annual Reports.
