Medicare: The Official U.S. Government Site for People with Medicare

This Web site provides information on public and private programs that offer discounted or free medication, programs that provide help with other health care costs, and Medicare health plans that include prescription coverage. It also provides information on ways you can reduce your prescription drug costs, such as by using generic alternatives. In addition, the site provides information on staying healthy, explains Medicare and Medicaid, provides answers to questions, and provides a glossary of terms.

MedlinePlus: Trusted Health Information for You

MedlinePlus offers a goldmine of good health information from the world's largest medical library, the National Library of Medicine. MedlinePlus has extensive information from the National Institutes of Health and other trusted sources on over 650 diseases and conditions. There are also lists of hospitals and physicians, a medical encyclopedia and a medical dictionary, health information in Spanish, extensive information on prescription and nonprescription drugs, health information from the media, and links to thousands of clinical trials. Medicare Interactive (MI) is a one-stop source for information about health care rights, options and benefits. The site is sponsored by the Medicare Rights Center, a national not-for-profit, consumer service organization, dedicated to ensuring that older adults and people with disabilities get good affordable health care. The site provides timely Medicare updates, including the program's new features and rates for 2005. As of November 2004, the site contains state-specific information for only 19 jurisdictions, but additional information is being added.
