You’ve heard about Project Outcome and are ready to get started. But what does it take to successfully implement Project Outcome in your library? This webinar will cover good practices for on-boarding staff, building internal support, and organizing your data collection team. Learn some of the steps libraries have taken early on to launch Project Outcome and spark support for outcome measurement, whether in a single library or an entire system. This webinar will feature Project Outcome users who will share their success stories and lessons learned. Webinar participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and share their own experiences.
At the conclusion of this webinar, participants will:
- Be able to identify key steps in successfully implementing outcome measurement, as outlined in the Project Outcome road map;
- Understand good practices and strategies for on-boarding staff, building internal support, and organizing their data collection team; and
- Know how other libraries have successfully implemented Project Outcome and how to access additional resources for support, including the Project Outcome Community of Practice.

Crystal Schimpf is a librarian, trainer, and consultant. As founder of Kixal, she provides innovative, transformative training for libraries on a wide range of topics. She has facilitated online and in-person training for Project Outcome since 2015. She has also provided training on projects for the Urban Libraries Council’s Edge Initiative, the International City/County Management Association's performance measurement project ICMA Insights, TechSoup’s monthly webinar series for libraries, Infopeople’s Building an Effective Learning Culture project, and the R-Squared Conference. She regularly presents workshops at conferences regionally and nationally on topics including digital literacy, outcome measurement, instructional design, storytelling, and advocacy.
Rebecca Jones is director of Branch & Neighbourhood Services at Brampton Library, responsible for neighborhood branches in one of Canada’s fastest growing multi-cultural cities. Rebecca came to libraries through a corporate route, starting her career as a librarian at the Royal Bank of Canada and then as a manager in information services, records management and technology training at Imperial Oil Ltd. Founder and partner of Dysart & Jones Associates since 1992, she managed more than 100 cross-functional projects in strategic and business planning, performance measures, organizational design, service reshaping and management projects, and was also director Professional Learning Centre at University of Toronto’s iSchool.
Working with libraries in all environments she became increasingly concerned that libraries did not have a sector indicators or performance measurement culture. Looking to the non-profit and public sectors she discovered the Logic Model and began talking, teaching, and nagging about the Model to any and all until Moe Hosseini-Ara started listening and joined her to raise the awareness of public libraries. She was ecstatic to be with Brampton Library when they were one of the first Canadian libraries to join PLA’s Project Outcome. A Fellow of the Special Libraries Association (SLA), a recipient of SLA’s Leadership Award and LMD’s Mentoring Award, she was delighted to be named Ontario’s Public Librarian of the Year, and receive Canada’s Outstanding Service to Librarianship Award. She considers herself as incredibly lucky to have gone from being a kid who knew nothing of libraries to now having colleagues and friends throughout Canada and the U.S. who make her laugh, think, change her opinion, learn, and continue to work in a sector that spans industries and positively impacts thousands of lives.
Clayton Cheever has been the Assistant Director of the Thomas Crane Public Library since 2013. Previously he has been the Metro Boston Library Network Administrator, a supervisor of technical services & IT, a teen librarian, a database administrator, a non-profit director, a canvasser, a dishwasher, and more. He is an avid bicyclist who loves doing long rides to raise awareness about climate change, a vegan for more than 20 years, and a proud father of two.
