Serving on a PLA committee is a rewarding experience that will also help you expand your professional development and networking base. The PLA Conference, PLA Award winners, and Public Libraries magazine (just to name a few) are all direct outcomes of the participation of our members on PLA committees. All PLA members are urged to apply. We need the talent and skill of dedicated professionals like you!
In spring/summer of 2014, PLA president-elect Larry Neal will appoint PLA members to the committees, advisory groups, and award juries you see listed below. If you are interested in volunteering to serve on one of these groups, please fill out the Committee Volunteer Form (you will need your ALA login). Please note that PLA is not able to accommodate all volunteer requests; however we will keep your name and committee preferences for two years to allow for two rounds of committee appointments. Feel free to call the PLA office (1-800-545-2433, ext. 5PLA) for more information.
